Oval Gear-Marine Fuel Flow Meter features
- The measurement has nothing to do with the fluid flow state. This is because the oval gear flowmeter relies on the pressure head of the measured medium to push the oval gear to rotate for measurement.
- The greater the viscosity of the medium, the smaller the leakage from the gear and the metering gap. Therefore, the larger the sticky skin of the measuring medium, the smaller the leakage error, and the more beneficial it is to the measurement.
- High measuring accuracy. It is suitable for flow measurement of high viscosity medium. But it is not suitable for fluids containing solid particles. Solid particles will jam the gears, making it impossible to measure flow. If the measured liquid medium contains gas, it will also cause measurement errors.
If the measured liquid contains solid particles and other impurities, you can install a filter first for filtering.

For Ocean-going ships:
Fuel oil is mainly divided into two categories, light oil and heavy oil.
Light oil is marine diesel, such as MGO and MDO. It is used in motor navigation. For example, when entering and leaving ports, entering and exiting narrow waterways, in strong winds and waves.
Fuel oil (heavy residue) is commonly referred to as 180 and 380cSt, etc., used for normal sea navigation. Therefore, the entire fuel oil system of this type of ship is divided into a completely independent system, a diesel system, and a high-viscosity fuel oil system.
There are also some ocean-going ships that only use heavy fuel oil as raw materials and do not use diesel. These ships must consider the impact of limiting sulfur content when refueling. Especially when the port of destination is in the European Union (environmental protection factor).

Marine fuels mainly include light diesel, heavy diesel, fuel oil, and residual fuel oil.
To put it simply, if the tested marine fuel is a low-viscosity, clean fuel. Then you can choose a turbine flowmeter. The price is reasonable and the measurement is stable.
If the marine fuel being tested is heavy oil, high-viscosity fuel. Then it is recommended to choose an oval gear flowmeter.
If the measured marine fuel is a small flow rate. Then it is recommended to use a circular gear flowmeter for measurement.
If the tested marine fuel has impurities. It is recommended to install a filter before the flowmeter.
