Can pressure transmitters measure high temperature media?

Customers often have such a question. So can pressure transmitters really measure high temperature media? The answer is yes.Of course, the pressure transmitter cannot directly contact the high-temperature medium. Prolonged contact with high-temperature media can easily damage the pressure sensor. Usually when measuring high temperature media, the pressure transmitter will be equipped with a stainless steel heat sink device. Avoid direct contact between the medium and the transmitter. A condensing tube can also be added on the basis of the heat sink to reduce the damage to the transmitter caused by excessive temperature.

High temperature-resistant pressure transmitters use Hessman connectors to keep the signal stable, the circuit design is constantly optimized, and the anti-interference ability is strong. The heat sink and core are fully combined to work normally at high temperatures.

High temperature-resistant pressure transmitter:

  1. Adding stainless steel heat sink on the basis of standard type and industrial type is high temperature type product, divided into standard high temperature type and industrial high temperature type. 4 ~ 20mA output, voltage 0 ~ 5V / 1 ~ 5/0 ~ 10V, etc.
  2. Standard high temperature type, all stainless steel structure, small size and easy installation. High temperature industrial type, cast aluminum housing, terminal output and simple wiring. When the current output is required, a digital display meter can be optionally provided.
  3. Standard high temperature type, high temperature industrial type, optional intrinsically safe explosion-proof box isolation and explosion-proof.
  4. The computer compensation technology is adopted, and the temperature drift is small. ± 0.01% FS / ℃ integrated circuit, high precision, strong anti-interference ability.
  5. Applied in petroleum, chemical, steel, light industry, machinery and equipment, energy constant pressure variable frequency water supply and other industries pressure detection. When the temperature is quite high, a condenser tube or a condenser is still used.

Add-on High Temperature Adapter

Add-on High-Temperature Adapter can also be called a pressure buffer tube. The role is to cool the measured medium and smooth the pressure fluctuations. When the pressure of the liquid, steam, and condensable gas whose temperature is higher than 60 ℃ is detected, the source port of the pressure sensor installed locally shall have a ring-shaped condensation ring or a U-shaped condensation bend.

Add-on High-Temperature Adapter is mainly used in a high-temperature environments with permeable or saturated steam. Avoid direct contact with high-temperature fluid inside the pressure sensor.

pressure sensor for steam

Pressure transmitters are used for steam metering and pipeline monitoring.

The temperature in the steam pipeline is generally relatively high. The low is more than one hundred degrees Celsius, and the high is two to three hundred degrees Celsius.

The start and stop of the valve will also cause the pressure in the pipeline to fluctuate.

Today we are going to talk to you about what to pay attention to when measuring the pressure of steam pipes?

When measuring the pressure of the steam pipeline, a high-temperature pressure transmitter should be selected due to the high-temperature environment.

In fact, in steam conditions, it only needs to pass through the surface bend (condensation tube). After passing through the elbow, the steam will condense into water at the elbow. Insulate the temperature, so as to achieve a good cooling effect.

The pressure transmitter after passing through the elbow on the pipeline with insulation layer is basically at room temperature. If it is not insulated, the high temperature will rise, causing the temperature of all objects above the pipeline to rise.

Advantages: The use of bends can optimize the cost, and is compatible with the product.

The material selection of a good bend is high. It is thicker and more durable than the general watch bend on the market. Good pressure resistance. The price will be slightly more expensive.

The above-mentioned pressure transmitter diaphragm damage is due to the phenomenon of water hammer.

The valve suddenly opens or closes, causing the pressure in the steam pipe to fluctuate suddenly.

Especially when the valve is opened, huge pressure fluctuations will cause the pipeline to vibrate violently. Even shocking.

The pressure transmitter will also withstand huge pressure in the pipeline. In severe cases, the core may be dented or even burst.

The prevention method is to install safety valves and accumulators, and open and close the valves slowly. Install a trap at the high point of the air discharge valve at the low point.

Some pressure transmitters will be protected by dampers and baffles.

The damper is a copper piece with a 4mm outer wire and a T-shaped thin through-tube structure inside. It can prevent the medium from directly impacting the diaphragm.

The baffle is placed on the front end of the core before assembling the core. Metal plate with holes. It also prevents the medium from directly impacting the diaphragm.

In the hydraulic machinery industry, there are a lot of equipment for pressure transmitters, which are often used for pressure control.

But hydraulic machinery is very prone to pressure shock when it is working. The shock pressure will far exceed the normal pressure, causing damage to the pressure transmitter.

In this case, some pressure transmitters have internal wires and dampers in the standard pressure port. Can effectively alleviate the impact.

The hydraulic and mechanical pressures are all above 10MPa. Generally, the transmitter above 10MPa should be equipped with a damper as standard. If the pressure shock is severe, a baffle can be added to alleviate the shock.

Frequently
Asked
Questions

A high pressure sensor is a device that converts the measured electrical parameters into DC current, DC voltage and isolates and outputs analog or digital signals.

The high pressure sensor usually adopts the selected foreign patch technology. The working principle is that the pressure of the measured pressure acts directly on the sensing piece of the sensor. The sensing piece produces a micro-displacement proportional to the pressure, and the resistance value of the sensor changes. And use the electronic circuit to detect this change. And convert and output a standard measurement signal corresponding to the pressure.

High temperature sensor is a kind of pressure sensor commonly used in industrial practice. It is widely used in various industrial automatic control environments.

The working principle of the high temperature sensor: the pressure of the wind pressure sensor acts directly on the diaphragm of the sensor. The diaphragm produces a micro-displacement proportional to the pressure of the medium. The resistance of the sensor changes. And the electronic circuit is used to detect this change. And The conversion outputs a standard signal corresponding to this pressure.

In HVAC systems, end sensors and controllers are the key components to ensure the smooth operation of the entire system and achieve energy-saving effects.

In the central air conditioner, the filter is used to filter the dust and impurities in the ventilation duct. The pressure sensor at the indoor vent is used to monitor the air pressure difference between the two ends of the filter at the air outlet. With the accumulation of time, the dust on the filter will accumulate more and more. It will gradually affect the air circulation of the filter. When the air circulation is not smooth, the air pressure difference between the two ends of the filter will continue to increase.

When the pressure sensor senses the pressure change, the upper computer receives the signal from the pressure sensor. When the signal value reaches the alarm point, it will start to alarm. It reminds the cleaning staff to replace or clean the filter. In addition to this role, the pressure sensor is also used to participate in the control of the air supply volume of the air outlet.

To measure pressure at high temperatures, you need a High Temperature Pressure Sensor designed to withstand extreme temperatures. These sensors typically use special materials and construction methods to ensure accurate and stable pressure readings even in environments with elevated temperatures.

Pressure sensor failures can result from several factors, including:

  • Overpressure: Exceeding the sensor’s rated pressure limit can cause permanent damage.
  • Temperature extremes: Prolonged exposure to temperatures outside the sensor’s specified range may cause sensor failure.
  • Mechanical stress: Physical damage, such as dropping or mishandling, can impact the sensor’s performance.
  • Corrosion: Exposure to harsh chemicals or corrosive substances can lead to sensor deterioration.
  • Electrical issues: Overvoltage, electromagnetic interference, or faulty wiring can damage the sensor’s electronics.

A pressure and temperature sensor is a combined device that measures both pressure and temperature in a single unit.

The pressure sensing element, usually a piezoresistive or capacitive element, converts the applied pressure into an electrical signal.

The temperature sensing element, often a thermocouple or RTD, measures the temperature by producing a voltage or resistance change proportional to temperature variations. The sensor’s output signals are then processed and converted into readable values.

A pressure sensor detects and measures the pressure of a fluid or gas. It converts the pressure into an electrical signal, which can be read and processed by control systems, instruments, or data acquisition devices. Pressure sensors can be used in various applications, such as monitoring pressure in pipelines, HVAC systems, automotive systems, and industrial processes.
